That’s a statement: colour rules ! From the shop window, you can’t help but notice C&C Milano’s display for the Milan Design Week. Novelties and classics, for bedding and upholstery, take new bright colours and fill the home with joy… And of course linen works wonders on these colours, thanks to its exceptionnal dye affinity…
Then you enter the showroom/boutique and notice the little twist in the accessories, such as the cushions, featuring new shapes or innovative fabrics (Maremma plisse is also featured in Radical Linen)…
A closer look at the fabrics will reveal a wide range of innovations, rich textures, moving surfaces, almost three-dimensional fabrics, striking and sensuous. My favorites:
- Oscar : amazing texture, also available with embossed patterns, in 90% Linen 10% Polyamide
- Pierre: an ultra-soft chenille in 100% Linen
- Ernesto: elegant panama in 73%Linen 15% Cotton 12% Polyamide
- Danse: contemporary jacquard in 52% Silk 48% Linen, double width 280cm
I could stay for hours discussing decoration and architecture with Emmanuele Castellini, founder of C&C Milano. His passion is as great as his cousin’s: Piero Castellini Baldissera is the designer who renovated Villa Necchi – built in the thirties and whose architect was Piero’s grandfather, Piero Portaluppi.
More about the family here.
More about Villa Necchi exhibition 13 April-6May with FAI and Fabrica to come soon…

By the way, why « Chers Voisins »? You can find the explanation right here.

The latest collection, Oasis, by Mark Alexander is a range of washed Belgium linens. There is a « livability » and calmness found in the delicate palette and texture in these over-washed lightweight linens of fine stripes, pin stripes and multi stripe designs. The linen is washed in a semi-artisanal way resulting in a soft hand, beautiful drape and vintage look.
