DESIGNERS DAYS: DEFI INNOVER ENSEMBLE

La Maison des Compagnons du Devoir de Paris participe pour la première fois aux Designers Days, et présente les innovations « Arsène » et « Ricochets », réalisés dans le Cadre du Défi Innover Ensemble. Une initiative portée par les Compagnons du Devoir et soutenue par la Fondation J.M. Weston.

Le brief: « la création d’un bagage pour homme, en voyage d’affaire, intégrant les savoir-faire de la maroquinerie dans une approche innovante ».

La démarche: un développement de produit complet, assumé en équipe par des jeunes maroquiniers, et étudiants designers et managers de la création.

Le résultat: le sac « Deux jours » Arsène est réalisé en lin et lin enduit, alliant des textures et des touchers en contraste… par Alice Delimal et Hélène Comte (Maroquinières, Compagnons du Devoir), Clémence Page et Pauline Gilain ( Designers, ENSCI), Noémie Blanchard et Louise de Préaumont (Managers IFM).

Avec le soutien du Linen Dream Lab pour la mise à disposition des lins innovants.

Un nouveau site www.mastersoflinen.com en complément de ce blog et de la page Facebook du lin  (https://www.facebook.com/pages/La-Conf ) pour y découvrir toutes les ressources sur le lin et le chanvre Européen. Ce site qui s’adresse aux professionnels et au grand-­‐public vous permettra aisément de télécharger l’ensemble des outils de promotion: un réseau d’études (portail de référence des études techniques sur l’état de la recherche Lin & Chanvre, IFM, Eco-finissages, …), un moteur de recherche d’identification des acteurs de la filière Lin…  Une actualité riche à découvrir rapidement  !

à vos agendas! festival textile(s) – du 26 mai au 24 juin @ Rosny sur Seine

Un événement proposé par Sylvie Breton & Marion Breton association « Jours, Semi et Entre-deux ».

Plusieurs installations seront exposées, entre autres: le Lustre, photo exclusive ci-dessous. Il est réalisé avec une base de ficelle agricole de Terre de lin, de satins et mousselines de soie imprimées, ficelle de lin à botteler, cerclage métallique de tonneau et plumes.

Pour sa troisième édition, le festival de création textile s’étoffe. Matières, motifs et savoir-faire investissent l’intérieur, le cloître et le jardin de l’Hospice Saint-Charles. Un parcours d’installations contemporaines pour des rencontres autour du textile :vecteur sensoriel de création, de tradition et d’émotion.

Rebecca Campeau sera présente, une artiste dont la linenandhempcommunity aime les personnages et le vestiaire fantastiques. Sa dernière exposition: « Sex-Tile » tenait lieu à la Galerie d’Art Contemporain: DUFAY BONNET.

Festival Textile(s), du 26 mai au 24 juin de 14h à 18h, l’entrée est libre.

Green Week 22 – 25 May 2012

La Green Week organisée à Bruxelles par la Direction Générale de l’Environnement de la Commission Européenne, du 22 au 25 mai, est un évènement annuel incontournable pour les entreprises, ONG, autorités et pour le grand public (plus de 3000 personnes en 2011).

Pour la 12ème édition, le thème choisi est l’eau: « EVERY DROP COUNTS – The Water Challenge ».

Un vaste sujet, touchant tous les domaines de la vie des européens et couvert par plus de 40 conférences. Dont le 22 mai de 16h30 à 18h00  « Water and Agriculture in the EU. How blue is the common Agricultural Policy? ».

Le saviez-vous?

Le lin, LA fibre Européenne par excellence, s’inscrit en précurseur dans cette thématique.

En effet, le lin ne nécessite AUCUNE IRRIGATION, ni pendant la culture ni lors du rouissage – étape cruciale pour dissocier fibres et pailles. L’ancienne pratique du « rouissage à l’eau » dans des cuves a été remplacée en Europe depuis plusieurs décennies par le « rouissage à terre » qui ne nécessite aucun apport d’eau, juste l’alchimie naturelle créée par la pluie, le vent et le soleil…

The 12th edition of Green Week, the biggest annual conference on European environment policy, takes place from 22 to 25 May 2012 in Brussels. A yearly event, it welcomes government, business and industry, non-governmental organisations, academia and the media (over 3 000 people in 2011).

OPEN DOOR @ LINEN DREAM LAB MILANO

Appuntamento speciale al Linen Dream Lab Milano: il 3 maggio 2012 si è infatti svolta una giornata di porte aperte per scoprire gli sviluppi tessili per l’autunno inverno 2013-14 ed un’ampia selezione di tessuti per interior design e outdoor, presentati durante l’esposizione Radical Linen by CELC Masters of Linen al Fuori Salone! Stilisti, giornalisti, designer e studenti hanno visitato il Linen Dream Lab per informarsi sulle ultime tendenze e scoprire gli innumerevoli impieghi del lino nell’ambito design e arredo, sia indoor che outdoor, grazie a sorprendenti finissaggi performanti! Grande successo anche per “THE LINEN BOOK”, lanciato in occasione del Salone del Mobile: opera di riferimento sull’Arte di vivere in 100% lino, dedicata agli addetti al settore. Gli ospiti della show-room hanno avuto l’occasione di sfogliare questo libro-oggetto che, attraverso interviste ad esperti, parla del lino come di un materiale tanto rassicurante quanto inatteso, contemporaneo e multisensoriale, che risponde alle esigenze di un consumo responsabile.

maison bensimon @ joyce – palais royal du 5 mai au 8 juin 2012

La Galerie JOYCE présente en collaboration avec la Gallery S. Bensimon la « Collection privée ». Présentation de pièces uniques, réinterprétation de la tennis emblématique par les créateurs du Palais Royal et vente d’éditions limitées en lin glitter ainsi que l’originale.

Serge Bensimon témoigne ici, à nouveau, de son affinité avec la fibre de lin… déjà complice des créations de Jean-Marie Massaud et de Noé Duchauffour-Lawrence exposées à la Galerie S. Bensimon à l’occasion de Paris Design Week. Des pièces design en lin composite éditées par Saint Luc – infos: ici.

@ MILAN : CASSINA AUTHENTIC ICONS, LC2 IN LINEN

The iconic LC2 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand is as cutting-edge now as it was in 1928.

Even more so, upholstered in a bright green linen as exhibited during Salone del Mobile. With such a focus as AUTHENTIC ICONS, no wonder linen was chosen, naturally !

@Milan: C&C milano’s rich textures and colours

That’s a statement: colour rules ! From the shop window, you can’t help but notice C&C Milano’s display for the Milan Design Week. Novelties and classics, for bedding and upholstery, take new bright colours and fill the home with joy… And of course linen works wonders on these colours, thanks to its exceptionnal dye affinity…

Then you enter the showroom/boutique and notice the little twist in the accessories, such as the cushions, featuring new shapes or innovative fabrics (Maremma plisse is also featured in Radical Linen)…

A closer look at the fabrics will reveal a wide range of innovations, rich textures, moving surfaces, almost three-dimensional fabrics, striking and sensuous. My favorites:

  • Oscar : amazing texture, also available with embossed patterns, in 90% Linen 10% Polyamide
  • Pierre: an ultra-soft chenille in 100% Linen
  • Ernesto: elegant panama in 73%Linen 15% Cotton 12% Polyamide
  • Danse: contemporary jacquard in 52% Silk 48% Linen, double width 280cm

I could stay for hours discussing decoration and architecture with Emmanuele Castellini, founder of C&C Milano. His passion is as great as his cousin’s: Piero Castellini Baldissera is the designer who renovated Villa Necchi – built in the thirties and whose architect was Piero’s grandfather, Piero Portaluppi.

@ MILAN: « CHERS VOISINS » BY MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA

The « Chers Voisins » (« Dear Neighbours ») installation at the Salone del Mobile in Milan showcases new Maison Martin Margiela furniture produced by Cerruti Baleri.

This year, the Maison created a temporary apartment that blends interior architecture and design in a style inspired by real life, disproportion and trompe-l’oeil.

Interior, day: a white room features « Telo » a disproportionate headboard. The structure seems to shrink and the linen quilted upholstery appears to follow suit.

-Linen, White, Sleep- is a thematic already expressed by Maison Martin Margiela for the Hotel La Maison Champs-Elysées in Paris; and also by CELC Masters of Linen at Radical Linen Stand, Maison et Object last January.
