Proposte: linen creativity at its best for home textiles

A very high-end trade show of furnishing fabrics, Proposte was held 5-7 May in Villa Erba, Cernobbio, Italy.

Among the 103 European exhibitors, many did present linen in their collections, and reported an overall good business climate and special interest for linen from the visitors – editeurs, specifyers, interior designers and press.

More precisely, 9 linen exhibitors were showcasing their lastest innovations, proving once again the versatile qualities of this natural and sustainable fibre… opening endless fields of possibilities.

Exclusive Fatboy cushions displayed their creativity, welcoming visitors to the stands and linking them throughout the show – thanks to special partnership with Fatboy and CELC Masters of Linen.

Case de ieri, design di oggi…

Savoir faire ancestral et design contemporain : un dialogue qui entre en résonnance avec la linen community…

Une très belle sélection de pièces design contemporaines dans 4 écrins somptueux, les « maisons-musées » de la ville de Milan.
Mention spéciale pour le Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, via Gesù 5, idéalement situé à quelques mètres de la spectaculaire installation Luce dal Lino, Via Montenapoleone. J’ai eu la chance de le visiter en même temps que les frères Campana, dont le célèbre fauteuil Favela trône dans la sala da pranzo. Parmi les autres designers présentés: Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola, Tom Dixon, Arik Levy, Ingo Maurer, Ettore Sottsass, Gaetano Pesce, Hella Jongerius, etc !

Yesterday’s houses, today’s design…

Past and present … that reminds me of a title by John Mowbray « Linen, an ancien fibre for a modern world ».

A selection of contemporary design in 4 prestigious settings, Milan’s Museum Houses.
My favourite: Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, via Gesù 5, ideally located next to the spectacular installation of Luce dal Lino, Via Montenapoleone.
I had the chance to visit the Museo at the same time as Fernando & Humberto Campana, whose famous Favela armchair sits in sala da pranzo. Among the designers featured: Ron Arad, Patricia Urquiola, Tom Dixon, Arik Levy, Ingo Maurer, Ettore Sottsass, Gaetano Pesce, Hella Jongerius, etc !

From Belfast to Boston

Irish based latina designer Maria Cárdenas has been invited to exhibit at the CraftBoston Show, run by the The Society of Arts & Crafts, founded in 1897.

The show is held in the Seaport World Trade Center, Boston MA from April 8-11.
