SECOND PRIZE WINNERS (€15.000)
OAT shoes are the first sneakers that can spawn new life: when worn down, they can be planted in the garden, park, balcony or sidewalk and in return, blooming plants will grow out of them! Combining clean design with materials taken from the earth, OAT shoes do not only look good, but can be buried, used as compost or deposited in the green waste bin when they are old: they are completely biodegradable.
During the launch of the second season innovative sneaker brand OAT Shoes presented their second, exclusive collection, The Limited Skin Collection, making use of the first ever cradle2cradle leather. OAT Shoes developed this leather in cooperation with The Hulshof royal Dutch Tanneries, resulting in completely biodegradable sneakers.
The Limited Skin collection consists of four completely new sneakers in vibrant colours and will be available all over Europe from September. “The first edition of The Green Fashion Competition has really helped us to introduce our Virgin Collection and we are really proud to have been able to show our second collection during the launch of the second edition of The Green Fashion Competition. Reactions so far have been really positive.”, says founder Christiaan Maats, “We are looking forward to what next year’s finalists will show us in January 2012 “.
