design icon: sheila hicks’s interview in wallpaper

Read all about Sheila Hicks, in the amazing profile written by Wallpaper as the first major retrospective to honor her is currently presented at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Philadelphia.

The linen and hemp community is thrilled as we absolutely love Sheila Hicks … as much as she loves linen !

She was awarded the “Maitre du Lin” distinction in 2000 and we had another opportunity to meet when we chose her artwork Banisteriopsis for the cover of Journal “All about Linen and Hemp” #2.

As ICA sums up “Her remarkably far-reaching artistic focus has encompassed painting, sculpture, photography, weaving, fabric design, writing, publishing, teaching and collaborations with architects.”

Discover more in the Wallpaper article which you can download from the Ica webpage; the photos of all the artworks are great, and all linen of course !

The exhibition Sheila Hicks: 50 Years is organized by the Addison Gallery of American Art and curated by Joan Simon and Susan C. Faxon.
